Two Moons
Two moons occupy the head
tonight: one for the flesh,
one for the ghost observing it.
☾ ☾
The knife moves proximately,
a thin astronomy
written across
the skin.
☾
Somewhere you are curled beyond the circumambient medium,
astrally calm.
☾
Your morphology tilts—
silicaceous particulate saturates,
abating toward silence.
☾
I divide quietly,
held by both at once.
☾ ☾
Still, the thought of you
normalizes the rotation
of everything.
☾
Two strange bodies,
learning the same
geodesic pull.
☾ ☾
And the doubling overhead—
forever above us,
patient.

oh how i love this
I love the flesh vs ghost in the first stanza. Beautiful words!
